On Friday, Dec. 29, a fire displaced 20 families and pets at the Colony Oaks Apartment on Petunia Avenue were displaced by a multi-alarm blaze.
Just before 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, another fire broke out, leaving an additional 20 families without a home, according to Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator Marrissa Heyman.
Eleven towns and nearly 60 firefighters responded to the second fire, she said. One firefighter was hospitalized with unspecified injuries, Heyman said.
A cause hadn't been identified as of press time.
